LECTURE

Intro to After Effects

- 2.5D animation software used for animation, visual effects and motion picture composition
- used in film, TV and web video creation
- manipulate imagery
- combine layers of video and images into the same scene

What is After Effects? 

- motion graphics animation works by manipulating vector and rasterized art to create and tell a story

Pre-Compositing in Adobe Photoshop

Transforming Still Images (Graphic Elements and Photography) Into Moving Images

- compositing layer in photoshop
- layers need to be arranged and renamed accordingly 
- organize and easy to be animated in After Effects

Pre-Compositing in Adobe After Effects

Animating layers sequence from various elements and platform

- Adobe After Effects is a digital visual effects, motion graphics and compositing application. 
- we can import elements such as images, video, vector and more into After Effects
- layer elements need to be organized and synchronized to the external software platforms such as Photoshop & Illustrator
- After Effects files does not embed its media, it links to it

TUTORIAL

During tutorial we watched this video as well as a demo video on after effects, to understand its tools and what we can do to animate each layer individual to create a great compositional piece. It was indeed very helpful.

PRACTICAL

During practical we had to carry out what we learned in the demo and tutorial with a given Photoshop file.

As a result, I made something that I learned a lot of. Keyframes are a very useful tool.

I tried to show that the fencer and shark are fighting and later at the end of the video, the fencer wins the fight and the shark swims away.
